Lori Varlas provides financial leadership to align the Hitachi Data Systems business and finance strategies. She is responsible for financial reporting and analysis, controllership, tax, treasury, internal audit and controls, procurement, global real estate, facilities, and financial shared services.
Varlas joined Hitachi Data Systems as a recognized leader in finance and operations across multiple industries, and was chosen as one of the "Most Influential Women in Business" by the San Francisco Business Times. Prior to joining Hitachi Data Systems, Varlas served as senior vice president and CFO at Central Garden & Pet, a publicly traded, consumer products manufacturing and distribution company. She was a member of the executive management team and was responsible for all financial operations, investor relations, and information technology systems and infrastructure. Varlas played a key role in improving the company's efficiency, operational systems and profitability. Previously, Varlas was vice president, finance – enterprise resources, at Sun Microsystems and held multiple executive finance roles at PeopleSoft. She also served in executive and leadership roles in finance at Chiron Corporation and Specialty Foods. Varlas began her career at Price Waterhouse where she served for seven years.
Varlas is a member of The Wall Street Journal CFO Network. She is a certified public accountant and received her bachelor's degree in business and accounting from Biola University.
