Short-distance replication is most often accomplished through synchronous copy methods. Synchronous replication ensures data integrity by considering a transaction done only when completion is confirmed at the local and remote locations. Thus, the two sites are mirror images. Should an outage occur at the primary site, operations at the secondary site can start very quickly.
