Storage Manager for VMware vCenter

Storage Manager for VMware vCenter is a VMware vCenter 4.1 and 5.0 plug-in that provides integrated management of Hitachi storage subsystems within vCenter. The plug-in will allow the vCenter administrator to automatically configure ESX hosts to Hitachi storage subsystems

The administrator can provision, map, delete storage logical drives from the Hitachi storage subsystem to the ESX host, and view the vCenter datastores to Hitachi storage subsystem logical drives. The plug-in uses Hitachi Device Manager to interface with VSP systems and a direct interface into AMS 2000 systems to facilitate the interface between the vSphere Client and the Hitachi storage subsystems based on the authenticated, logged-in user.

Storage Provider for VMware vCenter

Storage Provider for VMware vCenter (also known as VMware vStorage API for Storage Awareness, or VASA, Adapter) is a VMware vCenter 5.0 plug-in that provides visibility from VMware vCenter into the Storage Array, enabling VMware vCenter to discover and be aware of physical storage resources and information based on, topology, capability and component state. This information can be used by vCenter Administrators to make more aware decisions or to create more effective policies toward Storage DRS and Profile Based Storage.

About vSphere API for Storage Awareness APIs Providers
VMware vSphere Storage APIs for Storage Awareness (VASA) enables unprecedented coordination between vSphere/vCenter and storage arrays. It provides built-in storage insight in vCenter to support intelligent VM storage provisioning, bolster storage troubleshooting and enable new DRS-related use cases for storage.

Hitachi Data Systems supports vSphere Storage APIs for Storage Awareness via the plug-in, or "provider". This provider is compatible with vSphere and vCenter, and supports storage array makes and models as described on the VMware Compatibility Guide.
