Server Priority Manager

Ensure Storage Performance for Critical Servers

  • Prioritizes applications based on business requirements
  • Ensures storage performance for critical servers
  • Provides auto-disabling of upper limits to make sure idle resources are put to use
Overview

Meet Application Performance SLAs

Hitachi Server Priority Manager software allows you to meet application performance service level agreements (SLAs) by prioritizing an application's server port access.

  • Enables prioritizing performance for business-critical servers accessing the same storage system port
  • Allows a single storage system to limit the input/output (I/O) activity of a noncritical server, such as a development server

Setting service levels using Server Priority Manager provides significant benefits.

  • Ensures that critical servers achieve specified minimum throughput thresholds ahead of non-critical servers
  • Safeguards production server performance so noncritical applications do not adversely affect business-critical applications

Server Priority Manager is a component of Hitachi Basic Operating System for Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, Hitachi Universal Storage Platform® V, and Universal Storage Platform VM.

Features and Benefits

Features

  • Prioritizes utilization of storage resources
  • Safeguards the performance of high priority servers
  • Limits I/O requests from lower priority servers, including I/O operations per second (IOPS) and throughput (transfer rate)
  • Prioritizes by port and by server worldwide names (WWN)
  • Disables when priority servers are not busy

Benefits

  • Prioritizes applications based on business requirements
  • Alleviates performance problems caused by non-critical applications
  • Automatically disables upper limits to ensure idle resources are put to use
