Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager Advanced combines all the capabilities of Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager and Hitachi Global Link Manager to offer customers a comprehensive multipathing solution that provides robust path failover, load balancing capabilities and integrated path management for their open systems storage environments. Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager Advanced improves access to and availability of storage by distributing the load across multiple paths and from one path to another in the event of a path failure.
For customers challenged by the labor and difficulties of managing many servers' multiple storage paths in larger storage area network (SAN) environments, Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager Advanced provides centralized multipath storage connection management and reporting capabilities that drastically increase administrator efficiency and minimize configuration errors. These integrated path management capabilities improve system reliability and reduce downtime with automated path health checks, reporting alerts and error information from each host to assist with rapid problem troubleshooting.
Supports path failover and I/O load balancing for IBM® AIX®, Microsoft Windows®, HP-UX, Sun Solaris and Linux operating systems:
Supports Fibre Channel and iSCSI connections
Supports major server clustering products
Supports standard volume management tools
Supports popular host bus adapters (HBAs)
Complements Microsoft Windows Multipath I/O (MPIO) environments through added automation including failback and path load balancing
Supports all Hitachi storage systems as well as storage from other vendors.
Fault Tolerant Path Management
Enables access to data on all Hitachi storage systems in both direct attached storage (DAS) and SAN environments with path failover and I/O load balancing over multiple HBA cards.
Lists path information for all paths or for each host, HBA port, storage subsystem and storage port.
Optimizes application performance by controlling path bandwidth.
Group and Event Management
Controls access to specific groups of Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager hosts, based on user defined criteria, allowing administrators to create customized management views.
Enhances troubleshooting capabilities as the location of path failures can easily be pinpointed.
Integrates path failure alerts with common enterprise system management platforms.
Protects Data Availability
Path failover reduces the risk of financial loss because of a failed path to critical applications.
Users achieve a higher level of data availability through automatic failover and failback.
Applications stay online while maintenance is performed that requires the disabling of a path.
Optimizes System Performance
System performance is improved by taking all storage I/O requests and distributing the workload across all available paths.
Health checks monitor the status of online paths and can place a failed path offline when an error is detected.
Helps enable control of application specific storage service levels.
Improves System Reliability and Reduces Downtime
Easy switching to and back from alternative paths in complex storage networks.
Historical reporting of path availability helps to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Summary views provide an easy way to check the health of all SAN paths.
