Secure Management of Shared Storage Assets

Part of a careful storage management system, Hitachi Data Retention Utility lets you assign access permissions (read/write, read/only and protect) to logical volumes in disk storage systems. By assigning access permission to a logical volume, host systems are able to perform only the specified types of access operations on that logical volume. Access permissions may be used to protect data from illegal or destructive operations. When assigning access permission to a logical volume, the access permission takes effect on all data in that logical volume.

• Lock disk volumes as read-only for a prescribed period of time and ensure authorized-only access
• “Write once, read many” (WORM) function supports immutable, tamperproof record retention and the creation of compliant storage environments.
• Once data has been written, it can be retrieved and read only by authorized applications or users. It cannot be altered or deleted during the specified retention period.
