Compatible Mainframe FlashCopy SE Snapshots

For mainframe environments, Hitachi Compatible Software for IBM FlashCopy SE creates point-in-time copies of source data volumes while applications continue to operate with little or no disruption. Compatible Software for IBM FlashCopy SE snapshots are space efficient compared to full volume cloning or mirroring as the software backs up only changed blocks from the source volume. As a result, less storage capacity is required and storage costs drop. Because a virtual view of the source data volume is maintained along with changed data, recovery operations from resulting copies are quicker than full volume mirrors. Copies can also be used for test and development environments and for other purposes without the risk of corrupting the source volume.
