The availability of this solution increases the ability to control Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) for our customers and supports their disaster recovery processes, including disaster recovery testing. The unique combination of Hitachi’s storage system-based replication technology and Site Recovery Manager simplifies and automates disaster recovery processes and significantly improves the ability of a customer to be resilient in the event of failover.
The features and performance benefits of the Hitachi solution for VMware Site Recovery Manager include enterprise-class storage array performance combined with solution flexibility to meet differing business demands. Distance replication between production and recovery data centers can be performed by synchronous, TrueCopy or asynchronous Universal Replicator methods. Unique customer benefits of Universal Replicator include the use of disk journal volumes to accommodate temporary data link outages and its use of "pull" data transfer, which offloads the production storage array to focus on business application I/O processing. The in-system replication at the recovery site, ShadowImage, provides local, system-based replication for use by Site Recovery Manager testing or actual failover.
