Since it`s foundation Intercom has developed many innovative solutions in the IBM and Fujitsu Siemens Mainframe environment. Latest products are a Virtual Tape System of the second generation and a Virtual Optical Disk System. The Systems are connected between the open systems interface of the Storage System and the Channel Interface of the mainframe environment and converts the disk-based system into an IBM 3490 (VTS) compatible Virtual Tape System or IBM 3995 compatible Virtual Optical Disk System. This enables mainframe applications such as Tape Management Systems, IBM’s Content Manager, Mobius and other OAM application to access the Hitachi Disk Storage Systems directly without any additional changes on the mainframe.
