Hitachi Data Systems recognizes that benefits are important to its employees and considers them to be a major part of your compensation package. Hitachi Data Systems provides benefits that are designed to support your needs and those of your family. Most benefits are effective on your date of hire unless stated otherwise.

Benefits Information (U.S. Only)









Medical

HDS offers PPO and HMO Medical Plans. Under the PPO plan, routine office visits are $10 without having to meet an annual deductible. Most in network services are covered at 90% of charges after the deductible is met. No claim forms are required when using the PPO network. Most non-network services are covered at 70% of reasonable and customary charges, after the deductible.

Dental

Preventive dental care is covered at 100%, basic dental care is covered at 80%, major dental care is covered at 50%. All of these services combined have a maximum annual benefit of $1,500 per person. You and your dependents are eligible for orthodontia work covered at 50% of the cost up to $1,500.

Vision

Hitachi Data Systems offers employees and eligible dependents enrolled in a medical plan automatic coverage through Vision Service Plan (VSP). Co-payments and benefit maximums apply.

Flexible Spending Plan

Employees may choose to use pretax dollars to pay for expenses not covered by the health plan or dependent care expenses. They can contribute to one or both of the following:

Health Care Spending Account

This program allows employees to contribute up to $3,000 annually to pay for uncovered medical and dental expenses.

Dependent Care Spending Account

This program allows employees to contribute up to $5,000 annually to pay for childcare or care for dependents who are physically or mentally incapable of caring for themselves.

Life Insurance

Basic Term Life Insurance

The plan pays two times the annual base or benefit target compensation (for selected sales employees), up to $1,000,000.

Optional Term Life Insurance

Employees may elect one to four times annual base or benefit target compensation (for selected sales employees). The plan pays up to $750,000, depending upon your election.

Business Travel Accident Insurance

The plan pays three times the annual base or target compensation, up to $1,000,000.

Dependent Life Insurance

Employees may choose to purchase dependent life insurance for their spouse and children. There are two levels of coverage available.

Disability Plans

Short-Term Disability

Level I: Pays 55% of your weekly net earnings, up to $882.

Level II: Pays 85% net base or benefit target compensation, up to $3,076.92 weekly.

Level III: Pays 100% of net base or benefit target compensation for the first 90 days, then 85% for the remaining disability period up to $3,076.92 weekly. For all levels, the plan pays for up to 52 weeks of disability.

Long-Term Disability

Coverage under this plan begins after 52 weeks of short-term disability. The plan pays 60% of base or benefit target compensation, up to $15,000 per month, tax-free.

Employee Time Off

Holidays

Hitachi Data Systems observes nine paid holidays a year plus two paid floating holidays.

Vacation

Hitachi Data Systems offers employees three weeks of vacation per year. After completing eight years of service, the accrual increases to four weeks per year.

Sick Pay

Employees at Hitachi Data Systems are granted 80 hours of sick pay on their date of hire. Employees may use this sick time during the year with no accrual. On January 1 of each year, all employees are again credited with 80 hours. There is no carryover from year to year.

Planning Your Retirement

Retirement 401(k)

Employees may contribute from 1% to 50% of your compensation, up to the IRS limit. HDS will match 100% of the first 6% of eligible pay contributed up to IRS limits. Employees are vested in the company contributions after 3 years of service.

Employees age 50 and over can contribute an additional 1% to 25% of their pre-tax covered compensation up to IRS limits. HDS does not match catch-up contributions.
