~ Niels Svenningsen Becomes Senior Vice President and EMEA General Manager ~

21 maart 2011 — Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced that it has named Niels Svenningsen as senior vice president and general manager, EMEA. The appointment will be effective from April 1, 2011, when he takes over the role from Michael Väth, who becomes senior vice president, Global Business Innovation.

Svenningsen will report into Randy DeMont, executive vice president and general manager, Worldwide Sales, Services and Support. During his four years as vice president, he took on responsibility for twenty four countries across northern, central and eastern Europe, and successfully drove business for the region. He has extensive experience in the IT sector – including roles at HP, IBM and Compaq as well as leading his own IT company. He is based in Naerum, Denmark and will work closely with employees and customers across the region.

In addition to the growth of Hitachi Data Systems business across EMEA – particularly in collaboration with the channel – Svenningsen will focus on motivating and developing all employees to ensure that customer satisfaction throughout the region remains high.
