We, along with our colleagues in the Hitachi Group, are deeply saddened by the effects of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on Friday. The images of the devastation that have been reported out of Japan are truly heartbreaking. Our sympathies go out to all of those affected by this disaster and we are committed to do our part to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts. On Monday, March 14, Hitachi, Ltd. announced that the company will make a contribution to these efforts in the amount of 300 million Yen (approximately $3.7 million dollars) to aid in these efforts.
As I posted in my message last week, we received reports of only minor injuries and colleagues that have traveled to Japan from abroad have now returned safely home. We have also confirmed that there has been no major damage to our manufacturing facilities. Our customers should not be impacted in any way. In fact, shipment of our storage solutions resumed out of Japan on Monday, March 14. We are also fulfilling orders from our other distribution centers and are continuing to provide customer support globally on a 24x7 basis.
Again, our thoughts go out to all of those affected and we are committed to providing all the support we can to help in the recovery.
Sincerely,
Jack Domme
Chief Executive Officer
