Hitachi Server Priority Manager Software
Hitachi Server Priority Manager software enables you to meet application performance service level agreements (SLAs) by prioritizing the application's server port access. It allows a single storage system to limit the input/output (I/O) activity of non-critical servers, such as a development server, and prioritize the performance of business-critical servers accessing the same storage system port. Service levels can be set using Server Priority Manager software, ensuring that the critical servers achieve specified minimum throughput thresholds ahead of the non-critical servers. Production servers are thereby assured that business-critical applications are not adversely affected by non-critical applications.
Server Priority Manager is a component of the Hitachi Basic Operating System for the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform V and is also available as a separate product for the Universal Storage Platform.
Features
- Prioritize utilization of storage resources
- Safeguard the performance of high-priority servers
- Limit I/O requests from lower priority servers
- Limit I/O rate (I/O operations per second 'IOPS')
- Limit throughput (transfer rate)
- Prioritize
- By port
- By server Worldwide Names (WWN)
- Can be disabled when priority servers are not busy
Benefits
- Prioritize applications based on business requirements
- Alleviates performance problems caused by non-critical applications
- Automatically disables upper limits to ensure idle resources are put to use
