iSCSi
IP-Based SAN
iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Storage Interface) is a SAN technology that uses TCP/IP as an alternative to Fibre Channel as the network protocol. iSCSI is a lower cost SAN solution for environments which need block I/O for mission-important applications. iSCSI effectively addresses storage consolidation when incorporating stranded servers that do not warrant the cost of Fibre Channel SAN connectivity. Hitachi Data Systems offers native iSCSI on Hitachi midrange modular storage systems and multi-proto col switching products through its Data Networks partners.
