Storage Networking World (SNW) has named Pacific Capital Bancorp. (PCBC) the winner of its acclaimed 2005 "Best Practices in Storage" awards for implementation of a Hitachi TagmaStore® Universal Storage Platform-based solution that also included storage management and business continuity software and Hitachi Data Systems Global Solution Services assessment and implementation services.
The solution engineered by Hitachi Data Systems allowed PCBC to virtualize and manage Hitachi and a competitor's storage in a single, heterogeneous, multi-tier storage pool, greatly reducing infrastructure complexity and streamlining storage management. As a result, the customer implemented best practices for data lifecycle management solution delivery, configuration, and deployment processes. In addition, new data governance service level objectives have been mapped to support 23 of the bank's applications, two data centers, and more than 30 banking lines of business. Finally, a total design and solution process was established based on Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards for integrated governance and storage services.
The annual awards recognize innovative deployments of storage solutions. Criteria used included financial return and measurable payback, strategic importance to the business, and a number of other categories to determine winning nominees.
"This type of industry recognition is terrific for our valued customer and a great validation of our Application Optimized Storage™ strategy,"
"The award nomination was a collaborative effort involving sales, marketing, channels, and GSS, as well as Pacific Capital Bancorp. and their channel partner, Consiliant Technologies." - Peter Smails, Senior Director, Product Marketing.
