Increase Operational Efficiency and Business Resilience with Hitachi Storage Command Suite, the Single Software Suite for Managing the Entire Hitachi Storage Family

In managing tiered SAN storage infrastructures, storage administrators often encounter a few major business challenges. First, they must control or reduce costs while managing storage growth. They must meet service level agreements while responding to the ever changing needs of business units. And they must attempt to minimize risks by taking a proactive approach to problems of availability and recoverability.

It's a huge burden to bear and storage teams may find themselves overwhelmed trying to wring new efficiencies from increasingly complex storage infrastructures. The Hitachi Storage Command Suite — the newest enhancement to the management software suite formerly known as the Hitachi HiCommand® Suite — provides the single, essential management interface for all Hitachi storage systems.

Hitachi Storage Command Suite helps complement Hitachi storage systems hardware to produce the fastest, most reliable, and easiest to manage storage platforms available. It supports the management of diverse, heterogeneous solutions by design, supporting open systems and mainframe environments, as well as storage from other vendors virtualized by Hitachi Data Systems arrays.

The release of the Hitachi Storage Command Suite represents an evolution of storage management capabilities – now adding advanced replication management functions, as well as major enhancements to storage resource management and tiered storage that extend capabilities and improve usability, helping to improve the productivity and efficiency of storage administrators.
New Addition: Hitachi Replication Manager

Hitachi Replication ManagerHitachi Replication Manager is a new software tool for management, consolidation and simplification of replication operations. It configures, monitors, and manages Hitachi storage system-based replication products for both open systems and mainframe environments in a way that simplifies the operations, automation and monitoring of the critical storage components.
New Addition: Hitachi Storage Capacity Reporter, powered by APTARE®

Hitachi Storage Capacity Reporter Hitachi Storage Capacity Reporter delivers storage system, host and application level storage capacity reporting without the need for host agents across heterogeneous storage systems. It features rich reporting capabilities, including both current and historical capacity views, forecasting and predictive analysis, and custom reporting. With improved custom storage capacity reporting, it offers a clear view of how storage capacity is used and how to optimize storage utilization.
New Enhancements to Hitachi Universal Storage Platform™ V and Hitachi Universal Storage Platform VM

Along with the release of Hitachi Storage Command Suite, Hitachi also announced several major upgrades to the Universal Storage Platform. With a new maximum cache of 512GB for the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform V and 128GB for the Universal Storage Platform VM, storage administrators can isolate larger workloads and separate the storage demands of different applications from each other, leading to higher quality of service.

Other enhancements include new disks (400GB FC 10Krpm disk and 1TB SATA II 7200rpm disk), as well as new IPv6 support for the Universal Storage Platform’s management interface. This improves the security of its service processor and supports US government procurement requirements. Finally, the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform now offers mainframe support for SATA.
