Hitachi Data Systems Makes Significant Market Share Gains over Competitors in High-End Storage Systems for CYQ2 2005

Strong Hitachi TagmaStore Universal Storage Platform Sales Fuel 7 Percent Gain in Share over EMC and IBM, according to A.G. Edwards & Sons

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – November 29, 2005 – Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions™ solutions and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), announced significant market share gains in high-end storage systems for the latest calendar quarter ended in September, 2005. According to financial services firm A.G. Edwards & Sons, Hitachi Data Systems gained 7- percent market share in the high-end storage market in the last quarter, given a 6.5-percent sequential decline in EMC's Symmetrix high-end storage business and sluggish growth in the IBM TotalStorage DS8000 and DS6000 series enterprise storage offerings. A.G. Edwards & Sons reports strong sales growth for the Hitachi TagmaStore™ Universal Storage Platform as the driver of Hitachi's market share increase.
