Hitachi Data Systems Wins VARBusiness ARC Award for Best Product Innovation in Network Storage

Company Leads Storage Industry in Product Satisfaction, Support and Partnering Activities, and Company Loyalty

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – August 24, 2005—Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions™ solutions and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), announced the company received the VARBusiness Annual Report Card (ARC) award for Best Product Innovation in the Network Storage category. The company's channel executives were honored at an awards ceremony at the XChange '05 conference, one of the largest annual gatherings of channel and partner professionals, on August 23, in Orlando, Fla.

"We're committed to providing our channel partners with best-in-class Services Oriented Storage Solutions™ solutions for their customers to effectively manage storage infrastructures," said Tom Valiante, Vice President of Channels for the Americas, Hitachi Data Systems. "We are grateful for the strong vote of confidence from our partners. This award, based on survey results of industry channel partners, further validates our business strategy to spur growth and momentum in the channel by helping our network storage partners create a framework for building expertise in storage solutions."

The Hitachi TrueNorth™ Channel Partner Program is designed to enable its partners to expand their storage practice and generate additional profit and revenue opportunities by staying at the forefront of the growing needs of storage customers worldwide. Partnering with Hitachi Data Systems allows solution providers to build and sell robust and reliable storage solutions, enabling network storage customers to simplify, protect and optimize information infrastructures, reduce total cost of ownership, and realize a rapid return on investments. This year, the TrueNorth program launched a new version of PartnerXchange, its online partner resource portal, which contains a product configurator, a feature interoperability tool, tech support, training, partner and marketing resources, sales promotions and one of the most comprehensive technology and presentation libraries in the industry.

"The VARBusiness Annual Report Card is the industry standard for measuring excellence," said Robert C. DeMarzo, Publisher of VARBusiness. "It is a meaningful benchmark because the winning companies are selected by their customers."

Now in its 20th year, the VARBusiness ARC Awards program remains the premiere gauge of partner satisfaction. The ARC Awards recognize outstanding partner programs in 19 product and service categories including desktop computers, servers, storage management, Internet application server software and networking hardware. Over 5,000 channel partners—systems integrators, IT consulting organizations, value-added resellers (VARs), solution providers and software developers—surveyed and rated over 80 market-leading vendors based on following criteria: product satisfaction, support and partnering activities, and company loyalty.
