Dubai Internet City chosen as Headquarters for regional operations
Dubai, May 23rd 2004—Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd and the world's leading enterprise storage provider, today announced that it is to open its first Middle East regional office in Dubai, UAE. Recognizing the area's growth and potential, Hitachi Data Systems will set up its regional headquarters in Dubai Internet City, the Middle East's regional business hub, in order to support and develop its Middle East operations.
”DIC provides us with a gateway to the rest of the region,” said Brian Moroney, general manager, Hitachi Data Systems MEMA (Middle East, Mediterranean, Africa). ”With this new move, we can communicate directly with our channel partners and resellers and gain efficiencies from local contacts and support. As we expand, we will be able to monitor feedback and market changes directly and respond on the spot.”
The new office will provide enhanced resources to support the company's customers across the Middle East region and its partners STME, Sun Microsystems, and Naizak. It will also enable Hitachi Data Systems to gain first-hand knowledge of the market and expand operations through localized strategic marketing initiatives.
"We are pleased to welcome Hitachi Data Systems into the the DIC community. The company adds significant weight to our portfolio of leading organisations in the industry," said Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Dubai Internet City. "Within Middle East industries across the board, storage is a key element of business development and growth. DIC provides a strategic base for Hitachi, from which they can tap into the growing market, as well as gain access to a rich technology platform and business support."
Hitachi's range of products cater to businesses of all sizes and budgets. Storage needs in the Middle East are growing as the economy continues to provide an atmosphere where companies are flourishing. Hitachi Data Systems' presence at Storage World Middle East provides a platform from which Hitachi's Thunder and Lightning product families are introduced into the market for the first time.
"Working with our partners Naizak, Sun Microsystems and STME, Hitachi Data Systems has ensured itself a solid foundation from which to expand. Clearly, there is a very real need in the region today for advanced enterprise storage systems as well as strong demand for modular storage solutions and archival management systems in the business market," said Brian Moroney. "Storage solution users have until now not been offered a choice and range of products, such as those available from Hitachi Data Systems. We believe that we have the products, solutions and service capabilities to meet that market demand.”
