Hitachi Data Systems Named #1 in Network Storage by Large Solutions Providers
Santa Clara, California - March 17, 2003 - Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), and the leader in enterprise storage today announced that it has been named the number one network storage vendor by large solution providers in a survey conducted by respected industry publication Computer Reseller News (CRN). In addition, large solution providers named Hitachi Data Systems as the Network Storage Channel Champion Rookie of the Year.

CRN conducted a survey of 2,350 solution providers to determine the winners of its Channel Champions Awards. Solution providers rated the vendors on a series of technical- and channel-related criteria. In addition to winning the large solution provider award for network storage, Hitachi Data Systems was also rated first or second among nine competitors in over half of the criteria used to select the winners. CRN's Channel Champion Awards are given annually after conducting detailed interviews with solution providers. Solution providers are selected at random from CRN's subscriber list and carefully screened. Vendors are included in the survey on the basis of market share. The Channel Champion in each category is the vendor with the highest average weighted score across all the criteria.
