STORAGE WORLD CONFERENCE, Anaheim, California — May 6, 2003 —
Hitachi, Ltd. and Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), demonstrated for the second straight year the greatest increase in storage management software revenue among the leading ten vendors in the industry.
In the new Gartner Dataquest report*, Hitachi was identified as one of only three vendors in the top ten to experience growth in software sales in a year when the overall storage management software market declined by six percent. Nearly doubling its market share from 2001, Hitachi is currently the sixth largest vendor of storage management software.
Gartner ranks Hitachi the second largest vendor in the Enterprise Storage Resource Management segment, second in the Device Resource Management software subsegment and third largest in Data Replication software.
"Hitachi began its push into the storage management software
arena only two years ago with the launch of HiCommand Management
Framework," said Scott Genereux, vice president, Global Marketing
and Business Development, Hitachi Data Systems. "Now we are the
sixth largest vendor and expect to continue growing with the
increased emphasis on software under our TrueNorth strategy.
