Newest Module for HiCommand Management Framework Improves
Resource Utilization and Reduces Total Cost of Ownership
SANTA CLARA, California — December 3, 2002 — Delivering on its TrueNorth™ strategy to provide customers with solutions for open information management, Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT), today announced the availability of HiCommand™ Tuning Manager software, an end-to-end storage resource management software tool that fully integrates with HiCommand Management Framework — the company's flagship storage management software suite designed for policy-based, set-and-forget storage management.
"Today's growing stockpile of data adds an extra layer of complexity and cost to today's businesses," said Hu Yoshida, chief technology officer, Hitachi Data Systems. "This announcement is another proof point that Hitachi Data Systems is serious about its TrueNorth strategy, which addresses customers' storage management problems, delivering CIM-based storage management solutions that protect customer investments while simplifying and optimizing their IT resources."

From a single screen, HiCommand Tuning Manager enables today's storage managers to set capacity/performance alerts and generate customized reports that will support forecasting, planning, and implementation of future storage needs — all the way from the application to the storage device.
