Offering
STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD — ORLANDO, Florida — Oct 29, 2002 — Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced that it has joined Computer Associates (CA) and Microsoft Corp. in the formation of the BrightStor Offering for Enterprise Data Centers, to attain the fastest database backup and restore performance ever recorded on any platform.
The BrightStor Offering, built by CA, Microsoft, Hitachi Data Systems and other storage industry leaders, shattered previous performance benchmarks to achieve a record-setting 2.6TB/hour backup of a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database running on Windows 2000 Datacenter Server. The BrightStor Offering's Enterprise Backup restore performance also achieved a sustained rate of 2.2TB/hour using 32 drives.
