(NYSE: HIT), today announced the next steps toward achieving its TrueNorth™ vision to deliver open, standards-based storage solutions. The major announcements, include increased CIM-enabled functionality in HiCommand™ Device Manager, Hitachi's recently announced storage management platform, reseller agreements to provide customers with a broad range of storage solutions to simplify, protect and optimize their information infrastructures; and an expanded Global Solution Services organization.

Hitachi Data Systems delivers on its commitment to interoperability with today's announcement of new functionality in HiCommand Device Manager. A pre-release version of the company's storage management module, including Common Information Model (CIM) and Web-based Enterprise Management (WBEM) support, is a key component in the SNIA CIM-SAN demonstration to enable software management applications to use a common, interoperable interface for managing Hitachi Freedom Storage™ systems.
The CIM-SAN demonstration will showcase the first interoperable and open environment for storage area management based on the CIM/WBEM standards. The demonstration will take place in the Interoperability Lab at the SNW conference from October 27-30.
Hitachi Data Systems also announced two partner reseller agreements that provide customers with a range of best-of-breed, open, and standards-based storage solutions. Hitachi Data Systems has agreed to resell InterSAN® PATHLINE® software, an applications-based storage area management solution that automatically provisions, manages and monitors Hitachi Freedom Storage systems in a distributed storage-networking environment. The company will also resell Commvault® Galaxy® backup and recovery software, a global data protection solution certified for Hitachi Freedom Storage systems.
To support and manage the implementation of the TrueNorth initiative, Hitachi Data Systems also amplified its focus on services with the announcement of its Global Solution Services organization. An expansion of the company's existing Professional Services team, Global Solution Services ensures the most efficient use of Hitachi Data Systems products, strengthens the value of each product and maximizes customer ROI.
Hitachi Data Systems executives will be speaking at the conference. Dave Roberson, president and COO of Hitachi Data Systems, will deliver a keynote speech at 10:50 a.m. EST on Tuesday, October 29. Thereafter, vice president and chief technologist, Hu Yoshida, will participate in a SNIA-organized panel entitled "CIM-SAN: The Future of Interoperability" at 4:00 p.m. EST.
