Hitachi Data Systems Announces Global Solution Services Organization

New Services Delivery Framework Enables Customers to Speed Benefits of TrueNorth Vision and Strategy

STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD — ORLANDO, Florida — Oct 28, 2002 — Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced the formation of its Global Solution Services organization, an expansion of the company's existing Professional Services organization and a cornerstone of its continued drive to maximize the value of the TrueNorth™ vision and strategy for customers.

Refocusing the global professional services and education teams around our TrueNorth vision will enable customers to more rapidly gain substantial benefits — simplified management, protection of valuable data, and optimized resource utilization — by leveraging Hitachi Data Systems' products and best-of-breed offerings from strategic alliances.

"As a leader in the enterprise storage market, Hitachi Data Systems is committed to providing its customers with complete solutions to address their business challenges," said Ken Beaudry, senior vice president and general manager of Global Solution Services. "The Global Solution Services organization will give Hitachi Data Systems' customers worldwide the professional services resources they need to create world-class information infrastructures, lowering their total cost of ownership and accelerating return on investment."

The first services available from the new organization focus on the key issues affecting customers today — protecting, migrating, consolidating and managing data.

SplitSecond® for Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange addresses the demands of customers for rapid recovery of increasingly mission critical systems.

The new Data Migration and Storage Consolidation services use best-of-breed technology solutions from Hitachi Data Systems' partners combined with Hitachi Data Systems' unparalleled reputation for service excellence to optimize customers' storage technology and reduce total cost of ownership while minimizing the risk of disruption to production systems during infrastructure changes.

Finally, new Enablement Services for Hitachi Data Systems' open management software products maximize customers' ROI by speeding deployments and ensuring that staff have the knowledge they need to most effectively do their jobs.
