Hitachi Data Systems to Unveil a New Era of Simplified Storage Management at Live Press Conference and Webcast

SANTA CLARA, California, April 29, 2002 — Hitachi Data Systems, the world's fastest growing enterprise storage provider, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT), today announced a press conference and live Webcast to discuss the company's vision for open information management — unprecedented in the storage industry — designed to provide customers with the most simplified storage management available today. The press conference and Internet broadcast will be held in conjunction with Networld+Interop in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. PDT.
