Hitachi Data Systems and Global MAINTECH join forces to provide customers with a comprehensive solution for increased agility and productivity.
15 June 1999 — Hitachi Data Systems today announced Operations Gatekeeper™ — a comprehensive solution that enables enterprise organizations to manage their global IT operations from a single platform. Through an exclusive agreement with Minneapolis-based Global MAINTECH,® Inc., Hitachi Data Systems® brings Global MAINTECH's Virtual Command Center into Operations Gatekeeper, as well as other hardware, software, and services, to address customer needs for increased business agility and productivity. Customers will also benefit from Hitachi Data Systems' technology expertise in open systems and distributed environments.
Operations Gatekeeper minimizes costs by simultaneously controlling, operating, and monitoring data from mainframe, UNIX,® and Windows NT® environments from an independent platform that can be accessed at any time, regardless of location. The integration of technology and services in Operations Gatekeeper allows for more functionality without sacrificing performance. CIOs, outsourcers, and managers of data and disaster recovery centers, for example, can customize business solutions, consolidate global operations, and automate processes to consistently provide quality customer service.
"The success of our business depends on serving our customers by delivering reliable and consistent computing services through technically skilled professionals, efficient processes, and proven technologies," said Bill Larkins, Vice President of Operations, Western Region, Systems Management Specialists (SMS). "Operations Gatekeeper enables us to consolidate our consoles, manage data from multiple sites, and control distributed platforms through a single, alert-driven process. By implementing Operations Gatekeeper, we have already experienced a console reduction of 80 percent and achieved a return on our investment in 13 months."
"Listening and responding to customers in a timely, efficient, and professional manner are key to quality customer service," said Dave McCaffrey, Chief Executive Officer, Global MAINTECH. "The integration of Global MAINTECH's technology with Hitachi Data Systems' industry leadership provides IT organizations with a comprehensive business solution that not only customizes and automates business processes, but also provides the service-level support required to ensure product reliability, security, and customer satisfaction."
"Hitachi Data Systems' primary objective is to provide customers with access to any type of data at any time, regardless of system platform and location," said James Harris, Group Vice President and General Manager, Hitachi Data Systems' Global Marketing and Alliances. "Operations Gatekeeper combines our expertise in open systems and distributed environments with leading-edge data management technology from Global MAINTECH — helping us provide customers with customized, flexible, and automated business solutions that are optimized for distributed environments."
Hitachi Data Systems' Operations Gatekeeper is currently available in North America. Worldwide availability in selected locations is slated for later this year. The base price for this business solution is $150,000. Pricing will vary according to the configuration and level of customization.
