22 February 1999 — In an ongoing effort to provide cutting-edge IT services to its customers, Hitachi Data Systems today announced Trinium Services, a suite of professional services designed to complement the power of Hitachi's Skyline Trinium (please see news release, 02/22/99) in areas such as e-commerce, enterprise and server consolidation, and availability management. Future service offerings will include Web hosting and IntraPlex implementation.
As the ultimate e-commerce platform, Trinium is projected to handle more than twice the number of Web transactions than its nearest competitors, and with the dedicated support of Hitachi Professional Services, Trinium will offer unparalleled business-enabling applications across all levels of the enterprise.
Hitachi Web services will allow customers to take advantage of leading technologies such as Java and the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) on the Skyline Trinium platform as well as Web-enabling core mission-critical applications. Service offerings include design, diagnostics, implementation, and skills transfer.
Hitachi's server consolidation service is intended to allow customers to eliminate or reduce either a series of high-end S/390®-compatible servers or the forest of NT and UNIX® data servers, thereby reducing complexity and the overall systems management process. Companies are struggling with the task of operating, managing, and upgrading many small servers. Eliminating the need for UNIX or NT servers by consolidating data or porting applications on to the Skyline Trinium will greatly simplify their system management responsibilities while still taking advantage of the latest technology offerings.
Hitachi Professional Services offers a comprehensive approach to the continuous availability issue. High availability requires a supporting architecture and infrastructure as well as a focus on proactive processes. Hitachi Professional Services can meet these crucial business needs with its Availability Management (Business Continuity) services. Availability Management is the process of managing IT resources to ensure committed levels of systems availability are achieved to meet the critical needs of the business.
