Enterprise Systems Perspectives 02-24-06
"Strength continues at HDS as they quietly closed the biggest month (December) and quarter (Fiscal Q3) in the Hitachi subsidiaries history. Q3 revenue of approximately $755 million (+35% year-over-year, +13% sequentially) fared quite well relative to its closest comparison. In fact, over the same period EMC's Symmetrix related hardware and software revenue, by our estimates, was down 0.1% year-over-year (+19.1% sequentially) to $753.5 million. Moreover, coming off a strong Q3 performance, despite the typ ical seasonal corporate spending environment, sources are expecting sequential revenue growth into fiscal Q4. With greater than 2,000 USP controllers now installed, HDS has established a presence in the high-end virtualization market with little sign of a tangible alternative from EMC."

Enterprise Systems Review: Third Quarter 2005
"Led by the continued acceptance of the TagmaStore and its consolidation and growth story, contacts report that Hitachi’s HDS division quietly closed the strongest quarter in the company’s history. And as customers grow accustomed to the value proposition, contacts expect a similar growth trajectory from the new “baby Tagma” (NSC55)." (09-Nov-2005)
Q4 Enterprise Storage Update
"Contacts report strong sales for the recently announced Tagmastore Universal Storage Platform (USP), despite indications of tight order allocation. Leveraging its embedded virtualization controller customers are ordering SATA based Thunder arrays in tandem with the USP as part of a tiered storage strategy. Armed with a more rounded product suite HDS appears well positioned to compete for further business at existing OEM's." (22-Dec-2004)
Enterprise Management Comes to the Mid-Range
"With its fifth consecutive quarter of double-digit year-over-year growth, HDS's March quarter financials prove that the mid-range continues to be the sweet spot of the storage market...Particularly impressive for HDS was its software performance as its HiCommand suite posted in excess of 200% annual growth in the March period." The Lightning Strikes, Then the Thunder Rolls
"Hitachi announced what we consider to be a substantial step forward in the evolution of the Thunder modular storage family. This new generation combines a substantial improvement in storage density and performance with software features previously available exclusively on the high-end Lightning product." (03-Dec-2002)
