
Michael Väth is a key interface with Hitachi Ltd. and tasked to increase the collaboration between the executive functions of Hitachi Data Systems and Hitachi, Ltd. He focuses to align the companies' visions and strategies, cultivates new solutions and supports Hitachi's globalization efforts. He is also responsible for global business process re-engineering and global operations to drive efficiency and effectiveness and to build the foundation for further growth. Väth is a member of the Global Executive team, reporting to Jack Domme, and previously led Hitachi Data Systems business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as Senior Vice President and General Manager.
Väth joined the company in 2005. Working closely with the Global and European Executive teams he became well known for consistent revenue and profit growth, business innovation, and for successfully expanding into new markets. Before coming to Hitachi Data Systems, Väth ran his own management consulting company. Prior to that, between 1998 and 2003, he worked for StorageTek, where he joined as General Manager Central Region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) in 1998 and quickly became Vice President and General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, in 1999, where he grew revenue significantly and doubled profitability.
Väth has also worked successfully in national and international management roles for NCR Teradata, Olivetti Group and Bull AG. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, Germany. He is a member of the European Strategy Board of the Hitachi Group and a founding member of BITKOM, the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunication and News Media, and serves on its board.
