- One set of common management tools covering the full range of Hitachi storage systems. These tools include all software that was formerly included in Hitachi Device Manager software: Hitachi Resource Manager™ utility package, Hitachi Virtual Partition Manager software and Hitachi Server Priority Manager software.
- Virtual partitions that are dynamically changeable cache and storage logical partitions. With virtual partitions, users can create up to 4 virtual storage systems on a Universal Storage Platform™ V or Universal Storage Platform VM so that shared storage can be securely compartmentalized where needed. With up to 4 virtual cache partitions, users can control and adjust the quality of service (QoS) of all applications to either meet changing business needs or fluctuations in application I/O workloads.
The Basic Operating System software package is an integrated set of tools including an easy-to-use and intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) or a complete command line interface (CLI) that allows users to centrally manage Hitachi storage systems. . Basic Operating System software provides users with both logical, physical, and host management views that enable both storage provisioning and storage pooling for both primary and externally attached storage.
With the Basic Operating System software, users can create up to 4 storage or cache logical partitions to ensure that critical application servers have prioritized access to their required storage bandwidth. This powerful storage management tool offers multiple levels of security for disks, ports, and administrators, and its reporting capabilities enable capacity planning and analysis based on server, application or physical storage class usage.
The Basic Operating System performance monitoring capabilities provide a fundamental view of all performance data that is provided by the storage systems components.
