HiCommand® Protection Manager software is disk-to-disk-based rapid backup/restore management software for Microsoft Exchange server and SQL server.
Protection Manager software dramatically shortens the time spent for recovery when compared with the traditional solution which restores from tape. Further, it simplifies the overall backup/recovery operation, hiding the operational complexity, reducing the needs of customized scripts, and ensuring the integrity of backed-up data.

- Manages disk-to-disk-based backup/recovery taking advantage of Hitachi replication technologies (for example, Hitachi ShadowImage™ In-System Replication software and Hitachi Copy-on-Write software)
- Controls all the system components involved in the backup/recovery operations, including databases, array-based replication products, and traditional backup software, and takes consistent backup data for rapid recovery
- Automatically discovers system configuration from database to physical volumes including replication volumes
- Coordinates the database and the array-based replication technologies to make their interactive backup/restore processes take place in proper sequence
