Supporting an important international bank that processes huge amounts of credit business daily, the systems at the Export Import Bank of China handle data that is extraordinarily important for the entire banking organization. The bank required a proven disaster recovery solution and needed to ensure uninterrupted data availability and service continuity.
Solution
At the heart of the bank's storage environment is the Hitachi Lightning 9970V single-cabinet enterprise storage system. The data center remote storage, hosted in Shanghai, is the Hitachi Network Storage Controller model NSC55. Data transmission between the two locations is via two communication circuits from two telecommunication companies. Hitachi TrueCopy Asynchronous and Hitachi TrueCopy Synchronous software address remote replication needs. Using TrueCopy software, the operational system server updates transfer data in almost real time to backup storage on the remote NSC55. If a disaster occurs, whatever the situation, the Export Import Bank of China can obtain a usable duplicate copy of data from the remote backup center.
Results
Security of the core application data at the bank is now guaranteed, risk abatement capabilities are much better, service quality is also improved and the overall competitiveness of the bank has been greatly enhanced.
