Aid Will Be in the Form of Monetary Donation to the Singapore Red Cross
Singapore — November 30, 2011 — Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT / TSE: 6501), today announced that it will donate US$25,000 to the Singapore Red Cross Society’s South East Asia Flood Appeal fund, which is helping to provide support to those affected by the flooding in Thailand. The money will be used for the purchase of relief items, such food supplies, boats and bottled water.
This donation is part of the 30 million Yen (US$375,000) that Hitachi, Ltd., has given to aid the victims of the flooding in Thailand and to assist in recovery efforts in the affected regions.
The company’s regional effort to aid the Thailand flood relief efforts included monetary donation, donation of clothes and blankets, totaling to a value of 600,000 Baht (US$20,000) made by Hitachi Data Systems in Thailand through the Bangkok Broadcasting & Television Co., Ltd. Channel 7.
“Our deepest condolences go out to all the victims of the flooding and we sincerely hope for a speedy recovery of the people and places affected by this natural disaster,” said Mr. Ravi Rajendran, vice president and general manager for ASEAN, Hitachi Data Systems.
The Singapore Red Cross has expressed their gratitude to Hitachi Data System for their speedy response towards their appeal for donations.
